Teaching idea
This is a very powerful activity, which links using
and applying mathematics to data handling. This activity asks the children
to find some answers by studying a set of statistics on a group of Llamas.
It can be used to introduce the concept of databases and scatter diagrams
(scattergrams).
Copy the spreadsheet and get the children to create some scatter diagrams.
Link the computer up to a projector and use it as a whole class activity.
The children can use their scatter diagrams (scattergrams) as well as
those on the screen.
Learning outcome
The children will be able
find the mode and range of a set of data. They will be able to interpret
data and synthesise information linked to that data.
