Teaching idea
Children will investigate different circuits and find
out how the battery loses its energy. What do we mean by a 'flat' battery?
Children should be aware that the energy in batteries is used when they
are incorporated into a completed circuit.
The children should measure the length of time it takes to use all the
energy from the battery in the default mode. Increase the number of
light bulbs and measure the time. Finally predict what the result will
be for the addition of the next light bulb.
A final useful objective would be to get the children to draw the circuits
using the correct conventional symbols.
Get the children to draw the circuit so that they can predict what will
occur when the change is applied.
Make sure that they read the notice on the alarm box.
Learning outcome
Children will be able to
represent a series and parallel circuit using drawings and conventional
symbols.
