Switch
Access
There are two hardware devices that connect switches
such as the Big Red, Jelly Bean and Specs switch to PC computers.
These are:
| Mouser 3 |
Code 9186 |
| Serial Switch Box |
Code 919 |
The Mouser 3 has a PS/2 connection and plugs into
the back of the PC (or A7000) instead of your PS/2 mouse, the
mouse then plugs into the Mouser 3 where a second PS/2 mouse
or mouse alternative can also be connected.
The Mouser 3 has three 3.5mm jack plug ports, the
middle one is used for A7000's. Any switch with a 3.5mm jack
plug connection (adapters are available to convert from 1/4")
can be connected to these ports and will then emulate the respective
mouse button, for example a switch connected to the left port
will emulate the left mouse button. When using Switch Access
via the Mouser 3 it is important to check that the software you
want to switch activate can be access solely by the mouse buttons
without having to move the mouse.
The Serial Switch Box connects to a 9 pin Serial port on PC
computers and allows one or two switches with a 3.5mm jack plug
connector (adapters are available to convert from 1/4") to be
connected. Switch access via the Serial Switch Box must be used
with software which contains drivers built into it for the Switch
Box. The following software has been developed for Switch access
and will work with the Serial Switch Box.

- FacePaint
